Wonderful South Indian restaurant. Typically same taste and presentation as in South India. Flavours are Good. Surprise to see some wonderful dishes. Place not to miss in Charlotte if you want South Indian veg and non veg. The owners were very courteous. Taking care well and service.

My family came to this restaurant before me. I finally got to join them because they have been raving about Anjappar! The owner, Bala, and the servers we had, Anthony and Sashant, were absolutely amazing! The food was absolutely amazing and everything is so amazing here. Highly recommend!

Visited Anjappar recently after moving to Pineville, and honestly I expected much better. The restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere. The booth setup, table mats, and simple water bottle/glass presentation were clean and thoughtful. Even the cleaning staff were attentive and smiling, which I appreciated. But the service from the waiters felt cold. No smile, no proper welcome, and no one checked back on the table to see if the food was okay. Hospitality matters just as much as food. The music was another issue. As someone from Tamil Nadu, I personally enjoyed hearing Tamil songs, but the volume was way too loud — especially considering many non-Indian customers were dining there. Lower volume would create a much better dining experience for everyone. Food-wise, I started with the Nattukozhi Soup. Taste was average, but there was excessive oil, even spilled outside the bowl, which affected presentation and appetite. For the main course, I ordered goat curry with garlic naan. Unfortunately, the goat meat felt undercooked, and the naan itself seemed raw and not properly baked. That was the biggest disappointment for me. I left most of the food unfinished. We came in for a late lunch around 4 o’clock, just after their buffet hours had ended. We were a little hesitant walking into the restaurant since both the parking lot and the dining area looked empty. However, the staff was warm and welcoming and we were seated immediately. The food arrived within 15 minutes of ordering. The Malabar parotta and mutton biryani (made with zeera samba rice) were a pleasant surprise. It came with raita and kurma- brought back fond memories of Tamil Nadu. The mango fish curry was finger-licking good, but the crab pepper masala was just okay. The person who brought out the food(I believe he was the chef) was very polite and professional. The bill came to around $90 including tip. Although I felt the food was slightly overpriced, the quality of the food, ambience, and service made it worth every penny. I’d definitely come back again, especially on a Sunday to try their live appam and paya.

Food was meh and service was nice however. Edit: Interestingly, I have the owner rebutting my review. Little does he know that I have the timestamp and geotag of the pictures which proves that it was indeed Anjappar at Pineville in Charlotte. This happened around a month and a half ago.
